# First Badges > Pick the next everyday life skills to teach a kid aged 3 to 17 and get them as a sash of badges, each with a short first lesson from things at home and a look-for that tells you it landed. The page sizes and schedules the sash for free; a metered build picks the skills and writes the lessons, and the page re-checks every reply. URL: https://first-badges.skillsafe.ai/ API: https://first-badges.skillsafe.ai/api.html Built on: the SkillSafe skill @suzheng/k2f-lesson-plan (https://skillsafe.ai/skill/@suzheng/k2f-lesson-plan) - its mini-lesson arc (show it, do it together, let them try alone), materials named up front and observation look-fors. Model: gpt-terra, metered per run. The starter list, the draft sash, the schedule, earned badges, the print sheet and exports are free. ## What the page does for free - Reads the brief one item per line: what the kid can already do, what they are into, what you could teach. - Sizes the sash by fixed rules, in order: under 45 minutes a week, or fewer than 2 lines of can-do and interests together = starter sash (3 badges and what to tell the page next time); under 90 minutes = half sash (4); otherwise full sash (6). - Keeps a starter list of 45 everyday skills in eight areas (fix and make, kitchen, money, getting around, people, body, mind, home) with rough age ranges. The ranges are estimates - kids vary widely. It shows the ones that fit the age and are not already covered, and drafts a sash from them, with a safety line on the draft cards that use heat, a blade, a tool or a road. - Schedules one new badge a week: each started badge keeps 5 minutes a week of practice until it is earned. - Lets you mark badges earned, move them onto the can-do list and sew the next sash; prints the lesson cards with a tick line for the day each badge is earned. ## What the paid run returns One JSON object: task "sash", sash (starter | half | full), title, badges [{name, area, step (ready | stretch), builds_on, first_step, why, lesson {minutes, you_need, steps (show, together, alone), say}, look_for, practice, safety}], note, asks (only for starter). ## Grounding The model uses only what the brief says about the kid, never guesses gender (no he/she), never invents hobbies, people, places or plans, and makes no developmental or medical claims. A ready badge must copy the can-do line it builds on; the page flags one that does not, a stretch badge that leans on a can-do line, a badge that repeats the can-do list, too few areas, a missed focus area, a kitchen, tool, road or water badge without a safety line, and badges that will not fit the weekly minutes. ## Exports Lesson cards (.txt), the sash plus brief (.md), everything (.json), the weekly first lessons as a calendar file (.ics), a print sheet of the cards, and per-card copy.
